Lady Indians take epic win over #4 Loganville Christian
TFS grabs 3-2 win on the road
In what will go down as one of the best wins of the season, #6-ranked Tallulah Falls earned a 3-2 road win at #4-ranked Loganville Christian. The top-10 showdown sets the stage for their meeting at TFS coming up, and perhaps beyond once the playoffs start. Each set was close, as Tallulah won 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, and 16-14.
It was one of the better defensive performances of the season, as coaches beamed with pride on the grit and fight the girls played with.
"Everyone on the court had it in their mind that no ball would hit the floor, and hustled to every edge of the building to get a touch on every ball," says coach Matt Heyl. "We stayed lowe and ready and covered our hitters well."
Sofia Livianos had an unforgettable night with 23 kills, just five off the school's single-match record of 28 by Sarah Jennings.
"Tonight Sofia had one of the best offensive performances I've ever seen," adds Heyl. "She blew right through any block that dared oppose her."
Corinne Swinton added 18 kills, adding four blocks and four aces. Rebecca Heyl added 11 kills and was a true leader on the court.
"She continuously encouraged her teammates and kept the energy alive on the court."
Margalida Amengual Sanchez made great setting decisions, and the TFS serve receive was able to get her great passes, which allowed for some beautiful sets to the hitters. Libero Laura Ruiz Rendon stayed ready and dug out some powerful hits from the opponents. Lily Smith and Shelby Whisnant stayed energetic and got some great touches to slow down the hits from LCA.
"Overall, amazing game play from beginning to end for our Lady Indians," adds Heyl. "Their grit and determination led us to a five-set victory."
The win is the sixth in a row for TFS, and moves the overall record to 16-5, and the Lady Indians remain perfect at 5-0 in region play.
