Tallulah Falls Preview
The Lady Indians (26-8) are ranked #4 in the state, holding a top-four ranking for the last few weeks. TFS has won its past five matches, including wins last Saturday at home in the Sweet 16 over Fulton Science Academy and in the Elite 8 against #5-ranked Loganville Christian. The season has included a 10-match win streak from late-August to mid-September.
Tallulah Falls has won 10 matches against top-10 ranked opponents this year, which is a new program record. Senior Rebecca Heyl is second on the team with 238 kills, second in digs (230) and fourth in aces. Junior Sofia Livianos has team-highs with 242 kills and 262 digs, and is third in aces with 60. Senior setter Margalida Amengual Sanchez has 790 assists on the season and is tops in aces with 94. Those three, along with sophomore Corinne Swinton (199 kills, 67 aces, 31 blocks) each earned All-Region honors.
Coach Matt Heyl was named Coach of the Year for the region, and eclipsed 200 career wins earlier this season. This marks the 11th consecutive state playoff run for the Lady Indians, which is a record for any sport at TFS. The volleyball team has made the Sweet 16 or further six seasons in a row and seven overall. Securing this Final 4 berth marks only the second time in program history reaching the semifinals. The last time was in the 2022 GHSA State Championship season.
King's Academy is a familiar opponent for TFS. The teams have squared off twice this season in tournaments. In those, Tallulah Falls won 2-1 in early August, but dropped the rematch 2-1 a few weeks later. St. Anne Pacelli and Brookstone also faced the Lady Indians this year, and both won 2-1.
