TFS drops Lakeview in straight sets to open region play
Lady Indians earn quick road victory in Thursday action
It was a quick one in Gainesville on Thursday, as the Lady Indians secured a 3-0 straight-set win in their region-opener at Lakeview. TFS won 25-15, 25-6, 25-15.
In the opening set, great back row play equated to great passes to Margalida Amengual Sanchez. She set well to Corinne Swinton and Becca Heyl to unleash a barrage of undefendable spikes. Shelby Whisnant sprinkled in multiple tips to add to the scoring.
The second set featured TFS getting out to a sizeable lead, thanks in large part to Sanchez and her run of 10 serves, including five-plus aces. Lily Smith had her best hitting performance of the season, racking up multiple kills. Tallulah Falls notched multiple blocks, and dominated the set to put Lakeview on the brink.
In the final set, the girls played strong defense again, and that naturally flowed into fantastic setting from Sanchez and solid hitting all around. The team communicated very well, and the overall effort was superb.
The Lady Indians are now 8-3 overall, and 1-0 in region play.
