Two singles players, two doubles combos still alive for Lady Indians in region tournament
TFS teammates will square off in semifinal round
The Lady Indians had several individuals represented on Tuesday's first day of the GIAA Region Singles/Doubles Tournament in Athens.
SINGLES
21-seed Malwina Mroczek (3-4) won 8-4 in the first round to advance, and beat the 5-seed from Loganville Christian 0-6, 6-4 (10-7). 22-seed Lilli Whittle (0-1) dropped her first round matchup.
Top seed Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph (17-2) won her first round 6-1, 6-0 and her next round 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the semifinals. 4-seed Azaria Junaid (16-2) won 6-0, 6-0 and then 6-2, 6-3 over teammate Mcrozek to reach the semifinals, where she'll square off with Daniel-Joseph on Wednesday.
DOUBLES
In the doubles bracket, top-seeded Ava Carnes & Charlotte Stafford (14-3) won 6-3, 6-0 to reach the semifinals, and will take on 5-seeded Keira Webb & Madison Phillips (5-1), who won 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-4.
On the other side of the bracket, Catherine Harris & Lacey won 6-0, 6-0 to reach the second round.
