TFS Swim celebrates championship with ring ceremony
Swimmers receive rings as banners are unveiled at the Natatorium
The TFS swim program is still riding the waves following the sweep of the GIAA State Championship earlier this year at Georgia Tech. Both the Indians and Lady Indians were victorious, claiming the first state titles for both teams. After months of picking out rings, designing banners, and waiting on it all to arrive on campus, Tallulah Falls swimming was finally able to get most of the team together to celebrate on Thursday evening, August 7.
The night began with some food and fellowship, with the members of the team and their families reminiscing for awhile before the official ceremony began. Those in attendance gathered in the spectator portion of the Natatorium as last year's coach Tamara Griffis and newly-appointed head coach Chris Kafsky handed out rings to all members of the team and other TFS supporting staff.
President and Head of School Dr. Larry A. Peevy, and former Athletic Director Scott Neal along with current AD Greg Neeley, all shared encouragement with the swimmers and their families. Recent graduates Madison Dampier and Grayson Penland spoke on behalf of each team, describing the role the team's culture had in winning championships.
Following the delivery of the rings to the swimmers, the banners were unveiled to the backdrop of 'We are the Champions' echoing through the Natatorium. The 2025-26 boys and girls state champions join only the 2022 volleyball team and 2023-24 precision rifle team in winning the ultimate prize.
