Season Recap: Golf
Golf teams represented well with state tournament performances
The Tallulah Falls golf teams had another successful season, with both the girls and boys representing the school at the state level.
Throughout coach CJ Stockel's first season over the program, the Lady Indians had a young and small roster that was still able to net a region title and perform well at state - coming in 6th place.
Meanwhile, the Indians had a large, experienced roster that represented well with a handful competing at state. The bar continues to be raised for the golf program at TFS.
For the girls, it was the sophomore tandem of Maeve Hatcher and Handley James who consistently were 1-2 in every match. Hatcher finished 14th individually at state. Juniors Alex Rokoska and Kathi Ishaque also contributed to the team success. The region championship was the third in a row for the Lady Indians, and seventh overall in history. Hatcher was the individual champ as well, also earning the girls the low medalist for a third straight season and sixth time in program history.
The boys were guided by seniors Rylee Smith, Tate Turpin, Kalvin Ngov, and Wyatt Dorsey, along with veteran junior Ryder Cantrell. Young golfers Owen Earp and Max Pulliam led the freshmen group. The Indians had four individuals qualify for state, with Smith, Turpin, Cantrell, and Earp representing Tallulah Falls. At state, Smith finished 46th, while Turpin was 76th, Earp 89th, and Cantrell 95th.
Ngov, Pulliam, and Cantrell each had 40-or lower rounds during the season in a 9-hole event. All three tied for the season-best of 38. Cantrell had the best 18-hole performance with a 78. The boys tied the program record with an 18-hole, 4-person score of 326 as well.
Both teams return several leaders that will continue to push the program's bar up.
