Hatcher, James lead Lady Indians at Red Ryder Cup
Freshmen come in 9th among 64 teams
The Lady Indians played in a highly-touted event, the Red Ryder Cup on Saturday at Jekyll Island.
Maeve Hatcher and Handley James carded a 1-under 71, placing 9th out of 64 teams.
Alex Rokasko and Kathi Ishaque combined for a 95, coming in 57th.
"Hatcher and James are both freshmen, and seven of the eight teams that finished ahead of them were from 4A, 5A, and 6A schools," says coach CJ Stockel. "The future of this program looks very bright. We are incredibly proud of our Lady Indians. Competing against 32 high schools from across the state of Georgia, representing all classifications, is high-level competition. To have a team finish 9th overall in that field is outstanding—especially with two freshmen. Rokasko and Ishaque are continuing to learn the game and have improved significantly. The experience they gained competing against some of the best high school teams in Georgia is invaluable. The best part is that this is only the beginning of the season, and we have plenty of room to continue growing and improving."
