MS cross country teams sweep as Tri-State Championships
Hanifan-Wagner first overall for MS Indians
The MS cross country teams saved their best for last, as both the boys and girls won the Tri-State Championship on Wednesday at Rabun Gap.
The Indians took the top spot, and were paced by 5th-grader Kai Hanifan-Wagner (11:11). Lincoln Penland ran to a 3rd-place finish with an 11:59. Elliott Echols also recorded a top-10 finish at sixth place. The boys held a team score of 30, edging out Rabun Gap's 38.
The Lady Indians won by a large margin, as six TFS athletes placed in the top-10. Naomi Russo came in second, Marylane Dickey third, and Adaline Erdahl fourth. Lily Denard (6th), Evie Purcell (8th), and Tigerlily Singletary (9th) also placed in the top-10.
The Lady Indians repeat as Tri-State Champions, while the Indians take the top spot for the first time since 2018. The girls have won prior titles in 2024, 2022, 2019, 2017, and 2015, while the boys have won in 2018, 2017, 2015, 2011, and 2010.
