Season Recap: Boys Tennis
Young Indians team lives up to program expectations
Expectations are typically tied to the construction of a roster when it comes to athletics, not always tied to past success. The boys tennis team pushed any notion of being too young or inexperienced, and instead lived up to the past success of the teams before.
The Indians sported a 10-10 overall record, marking a fourth straight season reaching double-digit victories. TFS was fantastic in region play, going 5-1 to finish as the Region Runner-Up for the third time in the last five years.
An entirely new lineup meant the team would progress throughout the season, which it did. Miguel Smith at 1-singles tallied 11 wins, as did 2-singles standout Reilly Cox. Elijah Pinney (3-singles) also carved out 10 wins, and all three underclassmen continued to elevate their game during the season.
Smith was the Region Singles Runner-Up, and at doubles, a new combo emerged for Tallulah Falls in Christian David and Jackson Davis. That duo put up 10 wins together. Veteran and lone senior Glad Puscasu tallied four singles wins and seven wins at doubles. Cowen Perry had 11 total wins, and Dylan Johnson added two.
During the season, coach Anthony Cox eclipsed 100 career victories. TFS' season reached the Elite 8 for only the second time in program history, and the Indians held a #6 state ranking.
