Season Recap: Boys Soccer
Indians' historic run leads to second straight Final 4
The Indians set out to play their own brand of soccer, and that led to some program firsts in an unforgettable run that ended in the State Semifinals.
Tallulah Falls bookended the season with its only two losses, an opening contest and then a Final 4 one-goal loss at home. In between, TFS reeled off 17 straight victories, marking a program record.
Coach Jeremy Stille, who collected his 100th career victory in the midst of the season, guided the team to a fourth consecutive Region Championship, and made the Final 4 for a second straight season.
The end result, a #3 state ranking, was the final touch for a program that has played in the postseason six years in a row now. The Indians scored 100 goals on the season, marking the 3rd-best output in team history. The defense surrendered just 17 gaols (4th-fewest).
Stille was named Region Coach of the Year, and Petar Gromiko, Simon Gainzarain Hernando, Fabricio Turner Sandoval, and Tyson Hall all earned 1st Team All-Region honors. Versean Turnquest, Francisco Moreira Cardosa Mori Vierira, Ian Borchers, and Kale Borchers all were tabbed 2nd Team All-Region.
The defense was anchored by goalkeepers Alberto Battino and Lucas Woodland, who combined for 10 shutouts on the season. The season included top-10 wins over #4 Fulton Science Academy, #6 Lakeview (twice), #8 Calvary Christian, #9 King's Academy, and #10 George Walton. Offensively, Turnquest led with 21 goals and added five assists.
Both Gainzarain Hernando and Turner Sandoval recorded 12 goals and 12 assists apiece. Kale Borchers (9 G, 5 A), Ryan Kelsick (9 G, 5 A), Gromiko (8 G, 7 A), and Ky Thompson (6 G, 4 A) were among the playmakers on that side of the ball. TFS graduates five key seniors, but will return a great core to lead the 2027 team to hopefully another historic run.
