Indians blank Rabun in scrimmage win
TFS takes 5-0 victory in tune-up before official opener
The Indians opened their season with a 5-0 blanking at home against Rabun County on Friday evening.
"The boys played really well tonight, considering they hadn't had very many practices together due to the storms," says coach Jeremy Stille.
"Everybody got minutes tonight, which was a good thing to see. Everybody did well in the positions they were in, even with only three returning starters from the varsity squad last year."
Kale Borchers, one of those returning starters, had a goal and two assists. Fabricio Turner Sandoval, Ryan Kelsick, and Simon Gainzarain Hernando each added a goal, and Tyson Hall chipped in with an assist. There was also an own goal that contributed to the 5-0 score.
"The guys gelled together pretty quickly, communicated well, and were effective both defensively as a unit and offensively in possession," adds Stille. "We were able to hold possession most of the game and keep Rabun from having too many chances. Overall, it was a good scrimmage for us and a good starting point for the season to give us some ideas of where we can improve and some of the strengths that we have as a squad and the depth."
"Also, we want to give a big thank you to the fans that came out tonight. They were loud and a big motivator for the guys."
