Indians of the Month: September 2025
TFS honors one athlete per team during the active sports season
The following athletes were chosen by their coaches as Indians of the Month for September 2025.
VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
Margalida Amengual Sanchez - SR S #12
Margalida Amengual Sanchez has been an integral part of the volleyball program since the day she set foot on campus. In the month of September, she got her 1,000th assist, which only three other players have achieved. She also set the school record with 52 assists. She has sacrificed her body to give the best sets she can for her teammates. Marga leads her team in serving aces. She also has one of the highest court IQs we have ever seen. She is our quiet leader who leads by sacrifice and example. -coach Matt Heyl
VARSITY SOFTBALL
Abby McCoy - SR 3B #24
Abby has been a steady contributor at the plate with a .348 batting average, a .444 on-base percentage, 2 triples, and 4 RBI's. She brings energy and fun to the field, always showing her love for the game and willingness to play any position to help the team. She's the kind of teammate who makes everyone around her better. -coach Jenny Long
VARSITY BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Ryan Anderson - JR
Ryan has been the model of consistency for the Indians Cross Country team. He was the team's number two finisher in all three of the team's meets in September. In addition to his strong running, Ryan is an exceptional role model for his teammates. He's a hard worker and a great leader. -coach Jamie Jimison
VARSITY GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Emily Cai - SR
Emily has been a fantastic addition to the TFS Cross Country team this season. She is consistent, works hard, and has a great attitude. Her commitment to the process have served her well, as she has set personal bests in each of her races this season, including each of team's 3 meets in September. -coach Jamie Jimison
PRECISION RIFLE
Faith Stout - FR
At the September CMP monthly match, Faith competed in the 3 position air rifle competition, shooting a score of 563 out of 600. With that score, Faith was in the top 8 competitors and qualified for her first ever finals. During the finals, Faith showed determination and confidence as she represented TFS, finishing 5th overall. -coach Tim Stamey
JV VOLLEYBALL
Nora Mitchell - FR L #14
Nora played a tremendous role in the JV Volleyball team's success this year. Her tenacious defense and determination to not lose truly carried our team through many challenging moments throughout the season. Nora's passing skills, serving, communication and work ethic in the back row helped the team compete at a champion level. She set a great example of how to never give up and how to push through adversity. -coach Matt Crotta
MS VOLLEYBALL - A TEAM
Addisyn McCoy - 7TH OH #7
For the month of September, we are proud to recognize Addisyn McCoy as our Indian of the Month! Even though she is new to volleyball, Addisyn never let any obstacles stand in the way of her learning and growth. She came to every game and practice with a positive attitude, always smiling and upbeat. Her willingness to learn and eagerness to try new skills have made her extremely coachable and a great asset to the A Team. She consistently showed excellent sportsmanship on and off the court, encouraging her teammates and leading by example. Iradessa Guinn - 7TH #43
We are proud to honor Dessa as our Indian of the Month! She has shown amazing sportsmanship throughout the season, always encouraging her teammates and representing our team with pride. Dessa's constant smile and positive attitude make her a joy to be around, both on and off the court. She accepts constructive criticism with grace and uses it to grow as a player. Because of her hard work and determination, her skills have improved tremendously. We are so proud of Dessa and all the progress she has made—congratulations! -coach Natasha McEntire
MS SOFTBALL
Evie Purcell - 7TH SS #11
For the month of September, Evie batted .353 scoring nine runs and notching four RBIs in the lead off position. Her defense was stellar at shortstop putting out/assisting with 13 outs. Evie is a true bright spot on the team. She has a great work ethic and is willing to step up and do whatever is best for the team. She is a true team player and motivator. MS BOYS TENNIS
Matteus York - 7TH #2 Singles
Matteus York, as the loan returner in the boys lineup from a championship team last year, has been a very steady presence on our team. In the month of September, he is 5–0 at the 2-singles spot in the lineup. Matteus is a great competitor, and whether it is at practice in drills, in competitive games we play, or in official matches, he always brings his best effort. He is a terrific teammate who always encourages and challenges the others. His example is a demonstration of what it takes to be successful. Matteus also has a passion for the game of tennis, and this passion has led to a high level of play. We can't wait to see the impact he has in the future within our program. -coach Anthony Cox
MS GIRLS TENNIS
Joanna Neeley - 5TH #2 Singles
Joanna Neeley has had what can only be described as a remarkable season. This fifth grader has seemed more like a seasoned veteran and leader for her team. In the month of September, she earned a record of 6-1, primarily at 2-singles but even getting a victory at 1-singles. Every single challenge that has been thrown at her, she has been ready for in all aspects. She is a competitor who keeps her composure in difficult situations, and no moment has been too big for Joanna. She has a tremendous attitude, is extremely coachable, and is a phenomenal teammate. Joanna has made her team and coaches proud, and she represents exactly what want in a TFS athlete. -coach Anthony Cox
MS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Kai Hanifan-Wagner - 5TH
Kai has been a consistent top performer for the Indians through the course of this season. He was team's top performer with 2nd-place finishes in all four meets in September. His hard work and strong performances have set the tone for the team. -coach Jamie Jimison
MS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Marylane Dickey - 5TH
Marylane has an incredible balance of discipline and work ethic, which have enabled her to lead the charge of a strong Girls Cross Country team this fall. She was the top finisher for the squad in three team wins in September. -coach Jamie Jimison
