TFS honors one athlete per team during the active sports season
The following athletes were chosen by their coaches as Indians of the Month for August 2025.
VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
Becca Heyl - SR OH #6
Becca Heyl has started the season where she ended last year as a leader on the court with her constant communication during each play and encouragement to her teammates. Becca is also the leader in kills, digs, and co-leader in serve receive rating. She also has the highest hitting percentage for an outside hitter in school history. Beyond that is the sacrifice she gives, diving or sprinting after balls, which is the way she shows how much she cares about her team and about winning. -coach Matt Heyl
VARSITY SOFTBALL
Kaylin Pickett - SR CF #7
Kaylin has been a steady and dependable presence for our team. She leads by example with her hard work, positive attitude, and team-first mindset. Her consistency at the plate and in the field reflects her commitment to preparation and focus, but what stands out most is her leadership and the way she elevates those around her. Kaylin is not only a strong player, but also a great teammate who makes a lasting impact on and off the field. Offensively, she boasts a .467 batting average, a .500 on-base percentage, and a .667 slugging percentage with 7 hits, including a double and a triple, and 5 RBIs in five games. Defensively, she has recorded 11 of 12 putouts for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Kaylin is truly deserving of our Indian of the Month honor, as she exemplifies the culture and values we strive to build within our softball program. -coach Jenny Long

MS BOYS TENNIS
Turner Lander - 7TH #3 Singles
Turner is off to an amazing start this season. But it is not the last couple of weeks that are most important. It is all the time spent and dedication to the sport of tennis over the last year and more that has propelled him to start 3-0 at the 3rd and 2nd singles positions in the lineup. Every time he is at the tennis courts, Turner brings enthusiasm, positive energy, and a winning attitude. He is always upbeat, and that demeanor rubs off on others. He is a leader for our team, outspoken in his encouragement to teammates. His success on the court is only outshone by what he brings as a teammate, and genuinely kind and helpful individual. Turner Lander's impact on the tennis program is GREAT! -coach Anthony Cox
MS GIRLS TENNIS
Ruby Sue Anderson - 8TH #2 Singles
Ruby has been such a steady part of our program for the last two years. She balances playing two sports at one time and does both with excellence. Ruby is a competitor who always has a level head and adds such a positive presence to our team. She leads by example and encourages others to be their best while also demonstrating what it means to be a GREAT teammate. So far this season, with limited practice time, Ruby is 2-0 at the second singles position, even though this is her first time playing singles. Our team would not be what it is without Ruby Sue Anderson as a part of it, and we are so grateful for the person she is. -coach Anthony Cox

Parker Bryant - 7TH
Being an impactful member of a sports team is much more than athletic performance. Parker is indeed a very strong performer in cross country, but his impact goes far beyond that. Naomi is an incredibly hard worker who gets the job done daily without complaint. Her consistent efforts week after week in practice have provided a strong foundation for successful racing.
